Leaders of six countries will attend the BRICS Business Forum scheduled for Sunday afternoon to Monday morning.
This was disclosed at a press conference on Saturday in Xiamen, Fujian Province.
Chinese President Xi Jinping will be present at the opening ceremony and deliver a keynote speech.This is the first time in the history of BRICS that leaders of six countries will show up at the business forum.
Apart from Xi Jinping, the others are President Michel Temer of Brazil, President Jacob Zuma of South Africa, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, President Alpha Conde of Guinea and President Enrique Pena Nieto.
An unprecedented number of people, nearly 1,200 from 25 countries, including 1,069 from the business area, will attend the forum. Among them were leaders of 78 of the Global 500 companies.
The theme of the forum is “Stronger Partnership for a Brighter Future”, covering four topics for discussion, namely, trade and investment, connectivity, financial cooperation and development, and the blue economy.
On the sidelines, there will be a dialog between Emerging Market Economies and Developing Countries, with the theme “Promoting Mutually Beneficial Cooperation for Common Development”.
